1 Month

This month has flown by, I can't believe Cooper is already a month old! We are starting to get the hang of this two kid thing but it is definitely exponentially harder with 2 vs just 1. I also forgot how much I appreciate sleep! We are still struggling with finding the right balance as far as his diet. He was having a really hard time digesting breast milk, he would spit up almost everything he ate and would be uncomfortable for an hour after he ate. The doctor recommended soy milk to see if he was lactose intolerant. The soy worked great, no more spitting up, but he got extremely constipated. Now we are trying a combination of soy and breast milk with me limiting my dairy intake- hopefully we will figure out a good balance soon.

More pictures to follow soon... going to bed now.

Cooper- Week 1

Cooper is now a little over a week old, so far he pretty much sleeps about 22 hours a day, is super snuggly, hates to be naked, eats constantly and is already growing like a weed. We had his follow up doctor appt yesterday and he now weighs 8 pounds 6 ounces, up from 7 pounds 14 ounces and is 20 inches long. The doctor thinks they measured him incorrectly at the hospital since there is no way he grew 2 inches in a week.
We love him so much already!

Why do we buy toys?

He is just as happy with boxes and laundry baskets.

Let it snow...

Riley has brand new snow gear (pretty sure it's nicer than both mine and Ryan's) and has talked non stop about playing with his blue shovel. He also got new "dinasour" boots and I'm pretty sure I am more obsessed with them than he is, I think they are the cutest things ever!

Cooper Anthony Burdo

He is here! Born almost 2 weeks early on 11/29/10 at 12:48 pm. Much smaller than was expected at 7 pounds 14.7 ounces and 18 inches long.

I went into labor about 3:30 in the morning and headed to the hospital around 5. When I got to the hospital, I was only dialated to about a 4 so I knew things weren't going to happen for awhile. I was admitted and checked in and was given my epidural right away (which was amazing). My contractions were not very regular but things were progressing anyways. Cooper's heart beat was dropping with every contraction so the doctor gave me pitocin and broke my water to speed things up. As soon as he broke my water, my contractions were very regular and close together and it wasn't long before I was ready to push. Literally, 2 pushes later I was holding my beautiful baby boy! Completely different birth experience than I had with Riley and the recovery has been so much easier.
Riley has adjusted better than I could have imagined and tells me constantly that baby Cooper is hungry (which is usually true). He has been extremely gentle with him and wants to check on him all the time. And for comparison purposes, here is a picture of Cooper (top) and Riley (bottom), I think they look SO much alike.

Wine Cellar

We are almost finished with our big wine cellar project, the only thing we have left to do is order the racks. This project is 3 years in the making when Ryan's Dad bought us a wine chiller for christmas with the intention of building a cellar in our townhouse. The plan was to build a cellar in a very small closet. Well with the new house and more room, our wine cellar expanded and turned into bottle storage for probably around 1500 bottles when we are complete!
Huge thank you to Mike (Ryan's Dad) for driving down from Seattle on multiple occassions to work on this project. Without his technical expertise, creative vision, and labor, this project would not have been possible!!

Pumpkin Patch

We took Riley to the pumpkin patch with his Papa Mike, Grandma Minney and Grandma Bum Bum (Brown). He had a blast riding the airplane with Daddy, riding on the tractor and picking out his very own pumpkin, he only liked the white ones for some reason.

He is so smart, he can point to all of the pumpkins and knows which pumpkin each person picked out a week later. He never ceases to amaze me at how smart and observant he is. He does not miss a thing.

Finally...he can reach the pedals

This summer...

As the summer is winding down, I thought I would give a little recap of what we have been up to...
We have been enjoying the beautiful weather with lots of boating, wakeboarding, and playing in the sand. We have been fortunate enough to go boating almost every weekend and are lucky that Riley enjoys being outdoors as much as we do (which is much different than last summer). He especially loves playing in the sand and making sand castles with Papa "Bum Bum" and then smashing them as soon as they are done, he is such a boy!

It's tiring work being two!

5 Years

This post is a couple of days late but worth the wait. 5 years ago- July, 30, 2005 I was lucky enough to become Mrs. Burdo. I can't believe it has already been 5 years...
In order to get married, we had to take marriage class through our pastor and one of the requirements was to write a description about why we wanted to marry each other. I still have these descriptions and pull them out every once in a while. I am so blessed that the reasons I had then still hold true today and that I have so many more reasons to add to my list. I am truly blessed with the most amazing husband/father/best friend I could have ever imagined.
I love you hubby, happy anniversary!
